Portrait of the Artist: The American Scholar Interview

American Scholar logo

In a recent interview with The American Scholar, I discussed my work as a multimedia artist and my unique collage process. I use paper from all over the world to create abstract pieces that evoke the natural world. Combining colors, textures, and bits and pieces of other materials, each piece guides the creation of the next.

The Phi Beta Kappa Society publishes The American Scholar. Founded on December 5, 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. The American Scholar is the venerable but lively quarterly magazine of public affairs, literature, science, history, and culture published since 1932. In recent years the magazine has won five National Magazine Awards, the industry's highest honor, and been nominated for awards sixteen times. Many of its essays and articles have been selected for the yearly Best American anthologies.
